The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) announced a total ban on plastic bottles, bags, covers, and other non-degradable items, from the 1st of June, Wednesday.
The TTD Board decided to ban plastic products in order to protect the environment. About this, the TTD officials issued several orders, asking shop owners and hotel management to stop using plastic bags, bottles, and other items. They even conducted a meeting and issued directives. Notably, the orders include, the separation of wet and dry garbage in separate dustbins, only those items permitted are to be sold and shop owners should take up mass cleaning from 1: 00 P.M., to 3:00 P.M., every Tuesday.
Furthermore, the officials warned of surprise inspection and will siege the shops if they found any banned plastic items.
Taking inspiration from the TTD temple, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) led Andhra Pradesh Government also decided to impose a ban on plastic items in all the temples, across Andhra Pradesh.
It is to be noted, that the plastic items ban in temples across Andhra Pradesh would come into effect from the 1st of July.
