Chandanotsavam, the annual festival celebrated at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam, is all set to happen in Visakhapatnam.

The festival would be celebrated on the 14th of May, following all the guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) Unlike every year, this time the celebration would be a low key affair. Devotees and VVIPs would not be allowed to attend ‘Nijaroopa Darshan’ at the temple.

As per the tradition of the temple, the Chairperson of the Devasthanam P. Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju would be the first one to witness the Nijaroopa Darshan of lord Narsimha. The Nijaroopa Darshan is a special kind of Darshan of the deity without any ornaments.

After the darshan, the priests would offer silk clothes to Lord Narasimha Swamy on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Government.

Due to the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, only limited staff of the temple would be allowed to attend the annual celebration.

Even members of the trust board and special invitees are also not allowed on the day of Chandanotsavam. Limited team of archakas and temple staff would perform all the rituals. The clay urns (matti kalasalu) were examined for the ‘Sahasra Ghata Abhishekam’ to be conducted the 14th of May.

For all devotees, the temple authority arranged a live telecast of the rituals performed at Kalyana Mandapam. The live telecast would be watched through a YouTube channel. The arrangements were confirmed by M.V. Suryakala the Executive Officer of the temple.
