Amid the ongoing Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government is said to be trying to shift the Party office and the executive capital of the State.

According to sources, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is trying to shift the Party office to Visakhapatnam from Tadepalli in Amaravati.

It is to be noted, the YSRCP is trying to shift the State executive capital to Visakhapatnam from Amaravati. In regard to this, the State Government is making swift efforts to shift the camp office and the secretariat. It is to be said, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is firm to have three State capitals, Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Kurnool. However, due to the pending approval from the Central Government and pending cases with the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC,) the shifting has been halted.

Despite the pending approvals, the State Government is conducting construction works for the new YSRCP Camp office in Visakhapatnam and other major works.

To confirm the moves, earlier in June, Botsa Satyanarayan, the YSRCP Minister said, “The chief minister can work from anywhere in the State.” In addition, recently, Vijayasai Reddy, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the YSRCP, addressed the media and spoke about the firm decision of the State Government regarding the executive capital shifting.

In addition, recently the State Government reshuffled high ranking Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers within the Higher Visakhapatnam Municipal Company (GVMC.) In the last week also, the YSRCP Government shuffled nearly a dozen seniora directors within the GVMC.

Meanwhile, several official government departments, secretaries and corporations are identifying new accommodations in Visakhapatnam. The accommodation for the State Chief Minister and his office is also getting ready and is said to be handed over to the General Administration Department (GAD) soon.

Later, the YSRCP Government’s office is likely to get a clearance and security check approval from the police and the intelligence wing.

Sources close to development, who wish to be anonymous, say the Chief Minister would first make his move out of Tadepalli to Visakhapatnam once he gets the security clearance. This would follow the shifting of officials and departments in a phased manner from Amravati to Visakhapatnam.

These steps are said to be taken in the direction of shifting of the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government proposed to have 3 State capitals—Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool. While Visakhapatnam would be the administrative capital, Amaravati and Kurnool would be the legislative capital and judiciary capital respectively.
