The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, on the 14th of February, Monday, approved setting up of a lead agency for road safety funds. The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government also sanctioned Rs. 2,205 crores for the construction and maintenance of roads in the State.

The new proposal of the agency was reviewed during a meeting held at the YSRCP Camp Office in Tadepalli. Chairing the meeting at the YSRCP Camp Office, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasised the need for improving road conditions in the State.

Referring to road accidents in Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said that steps should be taken to provide free treatment for accident victims and all details about the accident should be uploaded on iRAD app (Integrated Road Accident Database) in real time. He also asked officials to see that the victims get the insurance amount in the shortest possible time. In addition, the YSRCP President asked the officials to take all the necessary measures to develop network hospitals, besides setting up of trauma care centres in all the new districts (13.)

Emphasising on the Improved health infrastructure, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the concerned officials to establish trauma care centres in all the proposed 16 new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

A rehabilitation centre for those suffering disability or serious injuries should be set up at Visakhapatnam. In addition, he also asked for a driving school in each Lok Sabha constituency for proper training in driving of motor vehicles, particularly (Road Transport Corporation) RTC buses. He also directed the officials to ensure that the beach corridor roads in Visakhapatnam were of international standards and it should be linked to NH-16 (National Highway.)

The YSRCP review meeting was attended by YSRCP leaders, State Cabinet Ministers and other department officials.
