Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, inquired about the safety of the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, travelling from Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, on the 9th of July, Saturday, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to speak to Mr. Praveen Prakash, the Andhra Pradesh Resident Commissioner in Delhi, regarding the safety and situation of Amarnath Yatra, after recent reports of floods and deaths.

Furthermore, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the concerned authorities to take measures for the safety of the pilgrims, asking them to coordinate with the Central Government officials regarding the safety of people in Amarnath.  Notably, a group of 10 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district, are stranded in Jammu and Kashmir, while they were on their way to Amarnath.

Notably, on the 8th of July, Friday,  reports of flash floods triggered tension in states, as many pilgrims travelled to Amarnath, Jammu and Kashmir.  The cloudburst claimed 15 lives and left approximately 40 pilgrims injured.

Meanwhile, to help the pilgrims and take a stock of the situation, the Additional Resident Commissioner Mr. Himanshu Kaushik is being sent to Srinagar immediately.  He would coordinate with the local authorities and take necessary measures for the safety of pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Government along with the Central Government is making all the necessary arrangements for the safety of the pilgrims, from across India travelling for Amarnath Yatra.
