Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 12th of April, toured Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. During his visit, he formally launched the Ugadi festival celebration and lauded village volunteers for their work and services in Andhra Pradesh. 

The A.P., village volunteers worked in order to create awareness about the schemes of the State Government, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) to the citizens. The village volunteers also worked during the pandemic of the Novel Coronavirus.

In order to recognize their work and appreciation, the YSRCP Government launched the Ugadi program in Poranki, Krishna District Penamaluru Assembly constituency.

At the event, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister presented Ugadi Distinguished Service Awards to the volunteers. The State would award volunteers under three categories – Seva Vajra, Seva Ratna and Seva Mitra in due recognition of their services. The selections were done on the yardstick of efficiency they have shown in the door to door survey, distribution of pensions, implementation of home delivery services and in activities related to pension card, rice card, health card etc.

Jagan Mohan Reddy during the event congratulated all the village and ward volunteers and appreciated the volunteers. He said that the entire administration was being run by the village secretariat system and were serving selflessly without expecting a bribe.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Every welfare scheme is being delivered at home. You are great soldiers offering pension without rupee bribe and (a) great minded person who knows the suffering of the poor. Volunteers work in a system without discrimination. Today the volunteer feels like a person in the family.” He further said, “We are giving away Rs. 10,000 for the Seva Mitra Award, Rs. 20,000 for the Seva Ratna Award and Rs. 30,000 for the Seva Vajra Award.”

In order to organise the event and awards, the State Government released an amount of Rs. 240 crores.

The two day Ugadi Award Felicitation event for village volunteers would be held in one constituency for every district.

YSRCP leaders, district collectors, people’s representatives and officials would be a part of the event.
