Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) decided to extend health security to the middle class residents of the State.

On the 15th of November, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) decided to provide medical facilities under the Aarogyasri scheme to people who have an annual income of Rs. 5 lakhs.

According to the new rule, people with an annual income up to Rs. 5 lakhs, 35 acres land and a personal car can also avail the benefits of the State’s Aarogyasri scheme.

However, as a proof, the State Government would demand Income Tax returns to verify whether the individual’s annual income is under Rs. 5 lakhs.

K.S. Jawahar Reddy, the Principal Secretary of the Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department, on the 15th of November, issued a Government Order (GO,) GO No. 628, under the YSR Aarogyasri Health Care Trust for the same.

The scheme benefits outsourcing, contract and part time employees working for government departments or private firms.  Besides, sanitary workers and honorarium based employees working in the government sector are also eligible to avail the benefits of the health care scheme.

Pensioners with an annual income less than Rs. 5 lakhs and people belonging to different income groups, including families eligible for other government schemes like YSR Pension Kanuka Card, Jagananna Vidya and Vasathi Deevena Card, can also avail the benefits of the YSR Aarogyasri scheme.
