Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 15th of June, disbursed amount for YSR Wahana Mitra scheme.

Under the scheme, commercial auto and taxi drivers would get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 per year from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government in Andhra Pradesh. The scheme was designed under the leadership of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, to benefit drivers of the State. To avail the benefits of the scheme, all the drivers of the State were asked to submit their Aadhaar Card, white ration card, vehicle registration certificate, driving license and bank passbook. Drivers who belong to Scheduled Castes (SCs,) Scheduled Tribes (STs,) Backward Classes (BCs) and minorities are required to submit their caste certificates, along with the aforementioned certificates.

With the disbursement of Rs. 248.47 crores, this would be the third year of the implementation of the YSR Vahan Mitra Scheme. The scheme to benefit state drivers was one of the promises made in the manifesto during the 2109 State Assembly elections and was launched in October 2019.

Usually, the amount is disturbed in the month of July every year, but due to the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic, the State Government decided to provide the financial assistance a month ahead.

In this regard, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister released the money for YSR Vahan Mitra scheme at the Tadepalli camp office. Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said, “We are fulfilling the promise given during the 3,648 km long padayatra and depositing Rs. 248.47 crore in cash for 2.48 lakh people. About 84% of the 2.48 lakh people are poor.”

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed happiness that the Andhra Pradesh Government launched a scheme considering auto and taxi drivers in the State. He said A.P., is the only State in India to support auto and cab drivers with such a scheme.

With this, till date, the State Government disbursed a total of Rs. 759 crores to drivers under the YSR Vahan Mitra Scheme benefiting as many as 2,48,468 drivers in A.P.
