Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) alerted the officials to be alert of the new Wuhan virus (COVID-19) variant Omicron. During a review meeting over the Omicron and COVID-19 situation, he directed the authorities to take strict action to curb the spread of the virus.
The authorities informed Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy about a gene sequencing lab, which would be set up in the State in another week. In addition, they also said, the fever survey would also be continued in the State. The officials also informed strict conduct of RT-PCR tests on passengers at airports and restrictions were imposed in the wake of Omicron.
Concerned about the Omicron, the Andhra Pradesh Government emphasized the need for vaccination. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the authorities to complete the vaccination process as soon as possible. Steps should be taken to give a double dose of the vaccine to all those of the prescribed age by January 2022.
The Andhra Pradesh CM also said that all steps are being taken to make available a special app for people to make efficient use of Aarogyasri services. He suggested the authorities to make arrangements for the people and clear their doubts through the app. He also directed to expedite the construction of new medical colleges in the state and provide super specialty services to cancer patients.
The medical review meeting was held on the 13th of December, Monday, at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Camp Office in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh.
