On the 1st of November, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government organised YSR Life Time Achievement Awards 2021.

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. Biswabhushan Harichandan, the Governor of A.P., presented the awards to all the awardees.

The YSR Life Time Achievement and YSR Achievement Award event was held at the A-Convention Centre in Vijayawada, A.P. During the event, the awards were given to journalists, people who worked for people and solely based in the fields of art and culture. Artists, writers, farmers, journalists and front line warriors were given the prestigious award with a cash prize at the event.

Besides Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mr. Biswabhushan Harichandan, Ms. Y.S. Vijayamma, the mother of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy also attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, the State CM, “The awardees were selected solely based on services and opined that the awards were presented for arts and culture on a large scale and farmers, writers, journalists, frontline warriors were also selected for the awards.”

According to sources, the YSR Awards presented today, the 1st of November include Rs. 10 lakh cash prize, a bronze statue, and a certificate for the Lifetime Achievement Award while the recipients of the Achievement Award were given a bronze statue along with Rs. 5 lakh cash prize and a certificate. Every year, the YSRCP organises the YSR Life Time Achievement and YSR Achievement Award to appreciate the work of people towards the society and the culture of the Telugu State. The awards were supposed to be presented in August, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 situation.

In 2021, a total of 11 organisations and 18 individuals received the YSR Lifetime Achievement Award, whereas 7 organisations and 25 Individuals received the YSR Achievement Award.

Details of the awards given:

Eminent journalist and author Palagummi Sainath and noted Telugu journalist Telakapalli Ravi rejected the Lifetime Achievement Award for which they have been chosen, saying they would not accept such an award instituted by the government.

Among those who received the Achievement Award were seven Covid warriors and a charitable trust.

The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Puttaparthi, C P Brown Library, Kadapa, Saraswatha Niketan Library, Vetapalem, Sri Siddhendra Yogi Kalakshetram, Kuchipudi, Rural Development Trust, Anantapuramu, Maharaja’s Government College of Music and Dance, Vizianagaram were among the reputed organisations that received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Founder of the famous ‘Kadiyam Nurseries’, Palla Venkanna, was presented the Lifetime Achievement award posthumously.

Veteran Telugu editor A B K Prasad also received the Lifetime Achievement award. Another reputed Editor Potturi Venkateswara Rao, cartoonist Khaja Hussain alias Devi Priya and senior journalist K Amarnath were presented the Lifetime Achievement award posthumously.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan lauded late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and works by him. He also appreciated Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is following the foot steps of his father and working towards the growth and development of the State.

Mr. Biswabhushan Harichandan said, “YSR is one of the greatest figures in the history of the AP who is passionate about education and medicine; he knows the pulse of the poor and brought Aarogyasri for free treatment, which has won the hearts of the people.”

Mr. Biswabhushan Harichandan, said, “Rabindranath Tagore hailed Telugu as the sweet language of the country. On the occasion of the state formation day, I pay my tributes to Potti Sriramulu who laid down his life for the creation of a separate Telugu state.”

Speaking about the award, the State Governor said, “Like the country’s highest civilian awards like Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan, we wanted to institute an award at the state level. This award is an honour for our culture and tradition.”

In addition, the State Government also decided to conduct the YSR Achievement and YSR Lifetime Achievement Award on the 1st of November, the formation Day of Andhra Pradesh.

The event was attended by several YSRCP leaders, prominent people of art, culture, social services and medical fields.
