The Andhra Pradesh Assembly passed the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition and Transfers) (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

The bill was passed by voice vote during the ongoing Assembly session in Andhra Pradesh.

The Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishna Das, tabled the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition and Transfer) (Amendment) Bill 2020.

Under the new law, the farmers of the State would be given Rs. 25,000 per year as rent for an acre which would be taken for lease only if the farmers give it voluntarily.

In addition, the Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy also said the districts in the Rayalaseema regions receive less rainfall this year and the new policy would be helpful to farmers.

The House also passed the Andhra Pradesh State Agricultural Council Bill, 2020 which proposes to set up an Agricultural Council, an autonomous body in the State.

The Agriculture Minister of Andhra Pradesh Kurasala Kannababu tabled the bill and the salient features of the Bill.

Mr. Kannababu said Andhra Pradesh would be the first State in India to set up an agriculture Council, and all the activities related to agricultural graduates, entrepreneurs, extension, research, development and marketing would come under one council.

Besides these two bills, the Andhra Pradesh Value Added Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2020, the AP Value Added Tax (Third Amendment) Bill, 2020 and the AP Tax on Professions, Trades, Calling And Employees (Amendment) Bill, 2020 were proposed by Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayana Swami. These aforementioned bills were also approved by the house.

Other bills which were passed in the house were the AP Animal Feed (Regulation of Manufacture, Quality Control, Sale and Distribution) Bill, 2020, the Andhra Pradesh Fiscal Responsibility and the Budget Management (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Andhra Pradesh State Development Corporation Bill, 2020 and the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Land (Conversion for Non Agricultural Purposes) Amendment Bill, 2020.

Andhra Pradesh is conducting winter Assembly session. The session began from the 30th of November and is likely to continue till the 4th of December.

However, an official announcement is yet to be made.
