Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 25th of April, asked whether national security is not an important issue to discuss.
Mr. Modi, on the 25th of April, addressed a public rally in Maithili of Bihar and raised the question regarding security issues and terrorism.
Mr. Modi took a dig at the opposition parties who criticise the Modi Government for raising terrorism issues and said, “They question why does Modi talk about terrorism. They say it is not an issue. You tell me—aren’t national security and terrorism issues? They do not have an understanding that you have. More than 350 people were killed in an attack in Sri Lanka. Isn’t this an issue?”
Mr. Modi also targeted the complaints of the opposition parties and said, the opposition parties which were asking and complaining about the evidence of airstrikes are now raising complaints against the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs.)
Highlighting the effects of terrorism, Mr. Modi said, the issue of terrorism is important and needs to be ended soon.
Appreciating himself, Modi said, “Aap ka yeh chowkidar chowkanna hai. Na koi module rahega na hi koi militant bachega (Your security guard is alert. All modules will be busted and all militants will be caught.)”
After the Pulwama terror attack and the Balakot airstrikes, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using the issue of terrorism to gain votes.
This is not the first time the Modi led Government spoke about Army jawans and terrorism to gain the sympathy of voters.
The Party, at several public meetings and roadshows, has spoken about the same agenda.
The speeches based on terrorism and the Pulwama terror attack can be deemed as the BJP’s campaign strategy for the Lok Sabha elections.
The Lok Sabha elections started on the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May.
The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.
On the 11th, 18th and the 23rd of April, the Indian states contested a total of 305 seats in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the BJP and the INC.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
