Shatrughan Sinha, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) is expected to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on an Indian National Congress (INC) ticket, in Bihar.
Shatrughan Sinha, who is having issues with the Party, decided to quit the BJP and join the INC. A senior leader of the INC in Bihar, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It is also almost final that actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha will be fielded from his Patna Sahib seat on our ticket. His resignation from the BJP and induction into the Congress will take place in a few days.”
However, an official announcement about Mr. Sinha joining the INC is yet to be made.
Recently, Sinha addressed the media and said, after Holi, on the 22nd of March, he will announce from which Party he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
According to sources, the disagreements and rifts between the BJP and Sinha worsened after the BJP denied giving a ticket to Sinha to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Patna Saheb constituency. The BJP is expected to nominate Ravi Shankar Prasad to contest in this constituency.
The decision came after the BJP, on the 20th of March, held a meeting with the Central Election Committee at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.
Shatrughan Sinha is the current Member of Parliament (MP) of the Patna Saheb constituency.
Bihar will contest a total of 40 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, which are divided into 7 phases. The Lok Sabha elections in Bihar are scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the INC and the BJP.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
