The Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on the 26th of March, announced, the Party would support the Indian National Congress (INC) in the upcoming Telangana Lok Sabha elections.
The decision of the TDP came after the Party announced they will not contest the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the President of the TDP, said, the Party will help the INC and give tough competition to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the Lok Sabha elections.
If the TDP supports the INC, this would be the second time the TDP and the INC compete together against the TRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
During the Telangana Assembly elections, the INC and the TDP formed an alliance and contested the Assembly elections.
Witnessing the current scenario and the strong foothold of the TRS in Telangana, the TDP supporting the INC is not a matter of concern for the TRS in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The TRS is strong in Telangana and would give tough competition to the opposition parties, the BJP and the INC.
Telangana will contest for a total of 17 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held on the 11th of April.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana are the TRS, the INC and the BJP
The results of the elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
