On the 25th of April, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two members of the Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) in the Tral district of Pulwama, under the Public Safety Act (PSA.)

The NIA took these men into custody in connection with various attacks of terror, including the Pulwama terror attack on the 14th of February.

“They have been brought here in a general case that was registered in March in Delhi,” NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal said in a statement.

According to the NIA spokesperson, the two people arrested were Tanveer Ahmad Ganie, 29, and Bilal Ahmad Mir, 23. The NIA arrested Tanveer and Bilal after a special probe was conducted.

The probe showed the JeM was part of several criminal conspiracies, including multiple terror attacks.

On the 14th of February, a JeM terrorist rammed his explosives laden truck into a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy. As a result of the explosion, 40 CRPF jawans were killed.

Tanveer and Bilal aren’t the only people arrested in relation to the terror attacks. Previously, the police also arrested Sajjad Ahmad Khan. According to the NIA, Sajjad Ahmad Khan was in constant contact with Tanveer and Bilal over WhatsApp.

“Investigation has disclosed that earlier arrested accused Sajjad Ahmad Khan was in regular contact with these accused over WhatsApp during the relevant period. Tanveer and Bilal were brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu, where they have been detained under Public Safety Act, and produced before the NIA Special Court today against a production warrant. The NIA court has granted seven days of NIA custody of the two accused persons,” a statement by the NIA said.

The NIA suspects Ahmad Khan for having prior knowledge about the Pulwama attack. Further accusations were levied on Khan on the grounds he was responsible for recruiting members to the JeM.

Khan, Tanveer and Bilal were arraigned as guilty based on separate FIRs.
