Famous Bollywood choreographer Mr. Ganesh Acharya has been charged with sexual harassment, molestation, and other charges of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)  On the 31st of March, the Mumbai Police filed a charge sheet, based on the allegations of one of his co-dancers in 2020.

According to sources, the Oshiwara Police Officer Mr. Sandeep Shinde, who investigated the complaint, said that the charge sheet was recently filed in the concerned Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri.  It is to be noted since 2019, Mr. Ganesh Acharya was allegedly molesting and stalking his female dancer. He even asked for sexual favors, offering work and limelight in the choreography industry of the Indian Cinema.  When refused by the victim, the Bollywood choreographer harassed her, even dismissed her membership with the India Film and Television Choreography Association (IFCTA.)  Later, in 2020, the female assistants of Mr. Ganesh Acharya also assaulted the victim, beating her and humiliating her.  When she went to the police, the Mumbai Police refused to complain, following which the victim, with the help of a lawyer, went to court.  The victim said, “ The victim said, “The female assistants beat me up, abused me, and defamed me after which I went to the police who refused to register a complaint and merely registered a non-cognizable case. Then I contacted a lawyer to take the matter further.”

With the intervention of the court, the Mumbai Police filed a charge sheet under sections 354-a (sexual harassment,) 354-c (voyeurism,) 354-d (stalking,) 509 (insulting the modesty of any woman,) 323 (causing hurt,) 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace,) 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention to commit an offense) of the Indian Penal Code.

As of now, Mr. Ganesh Acharya has refused to comment on the matter.
