Guddu Chouhan and Anees Khan, two Congress leaders from Bhopal, proposed the name of Kareena Kapoor Khan to contest the Lok Sabha elections in Bhopal.
However, Kamal Nath, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and Kareena Kapoor have not given any comment regarding her entry into politics.
The Congress party, in order to gain the maximum number of votes from the City’s youth against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) proposed Kareena Kapoor Khan’s name. Guddu Chouhan and Anees Khan urged the Party to give her a ticket to be the representative of the Party in Bhopal.
Late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s father in law, contested the Lok Sabha elections in the year 1991, but lost against a BJP candidate who won with a majority of 1 lakh votes.
Alok Sanjar, a current Member of Parliament (MP) in Bhopal, criticised the Congress party and said, “Congress ke paas neta nahi bache isliye abhineta ke sahare chunaav ladna chah rahe hain (Congress does not have a strong candidate, so it is now trying to field an actor.)”
The Congress party did not make any official announcement regarding the matter. Guddu Chouhan and Anees Khan are expected to meet Kamal Nath to discuss the matter further.
