NCB Files 12000 Pages Charge Sheets In Drug Angle Case Of SSR Death, Names 33 Accused

After months of investigation the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) filed a charge sheet of the drugs angle in the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. 

The NCB launched an investigation into the drugs angle in 2020 August. The bureau on the 5th of March, filed 12,000 pages (Hard Copy) and 50,000 digital copy charge sheets in front of a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court.

According to the sources, the filed charge sheet named nearly 33 accused along with 200 witnesses’ statements.

The 33 accused named in the chargesheet include Sushant Singh Rajput’s rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s manager Samuel Miranda, household helper Dipesh Sawant and Anuj Keshwani.

Besides the aforementioned names, two college students, who are allegedly last mile peddlers along with two foreign nationals, including Agisilaos Demetriades, brother of Arjun Rampal’s partner, have been included in the chargesheet as well. Kshitij Prasad has also been named. Out of all the chargesheeted people, five are absconding.

The chargesheets also revealed how various drugs including synthetic narcotic substances were being procured at the highest level and then distributed across Mumbai through various hands.

An NCB official who wished to be anonymous said, “From drugs being manufactured to the supply chain and ultimately its consumption, the trail has been mentioned.”

After the case was registered with the NCB, the probe agency was given a tenure of 6 months to file the chargesheet. As per the chargesheet, all the 35 were accused by the agency of procuring and supplying drugs to the late actor.

The Sushant Sing Rajput death case made headlines for quite a long time. All the three special probing agencies, like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI,) the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the NCB started investigating the death case, the money laundering angle and the drug angle in the Bollywood actor’s death.

M.S. Dhoni, The Untold Story, fame Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. He died on the 14th of June 2020. Several cases and suspects were on the radar of the Mumbai Police.

After the initial investigation and political pressure, the case was given to the CBI. Later, due to money laundering aspects and drugs angle, the ED and the NCB joined the CBI and started a detailed investigation.

The Ed’s and the NCB’s involvement was based on the private WhatsApp chats between actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty and some of Sushant Singh Rajput’s staff. Rhea was said to be the main suspect as she was the rumoured girlfriend of the late actor. Later, Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister even filed a money laundering case against Rhea Chakraborty.

However, she was later released on bail and the investigation in his death case is still underway.

As of now, NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, is supervising and investigating the drug angle case into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
