5 killed in Punjab Terror Attack, Five Bombs Found On Railway Track

Chandigarh: On Monday morning, a group of terrorists attacked a police station in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Nearly five persons have been killed in the attack. The suspected terrorists, who were in uniform, attacked the police station and also opened fire on a bus.

According to reports, the terrorists arrived in a car and then attacked the bus, which was on its way to Punjab from Jammu and Kashmir. As many as four passengers were injured in the firing. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Later, the assailants entered the police station of Dinanagar and then opened fire at the police personnel.

It is heard that the gunmen were armed heavily. So far, no group has claimed the responsibility of the attack. Heavy security has been deployed in the state. Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal for the assistance to manage the situation.

Mr Singh also said that he has spoken to the Punjab chief minister, who apprised him of the developing situation in Gurudaspur. He added that the Security forces have rushed to the spot.

Five live bombs planted on railway track in Punjab

Apart from the attack, five live bombs were also found near a bridge on the railway track on the Amritsar-Pathankot section. The bombs were wired to the track on the bridge, which is 5km from Dinanagar.
