Bodh Gaya Temple: Police Find Two Cane Bombs

The Police in Bodh Gaya found two cane bombs weighing 10 Kgs each at Gate Number 4 of the Bodh Gaya Temple on Friday night. Officials reported the bombs are yet to be diffused. Just as the Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama ended his sermon and retired for the day, the police found the bombs. At present, the Kalchakra Puja of the Buddhist pilgrims that lasts for a month is going on at this Buddhist Temple. On Friday, the Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik was also present at the Bodh Gaya Temple.

The Police confirmed to finding the two cane bombs at the temple. A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot. The professionals took the bombs to a remote area to diffuse. Garima Mallik the Gaya Senior Superintendent of Police confirmed about the two bombs being found at Gate Number 4 of the Bodh Gaya Temple. He further reported a “massive search operation is going on at the place.”

The police launched a search operation after a minor blast took place at the temple complex. The police found a thermos flask that blasted in the kitchen. After this incident, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) took over the security of the temple. Earlier, the Intelligence Agencies alerted the security officials regarding the threat at the Buddhist Temple, especially during the Kalchakra Puja. But no extra security measures were taken according to one of the priests at the Bodh Gaya Temple.

In July 2013, a serial bomb blast occurred at Bodh Gaya Temple that resulted in three Buddhist priests getting injured.
