Karti Chidambaram and his chartered accountant S. Bhaskararaman will present their bail plea to the Delhi Court today. The Enforcement Directorate arrested Bhaskaraman in connection to the INX Media scam on the 16th of February.

After interrogating Indrani Mukerjea the co founder of INX Media, the CBI arrested Mr. Karti at the Chennai Airport yesterday. The Delhi Court gave the CBI custody of Chidambaram for one day.

The CBI initially demanded 15 days custody on the grounds that Chidambaram was not cooperating with the investigation. According to the CBI Mr. Karti traveling abroad is an attempt to get rid of evidence.

However, Karti’s defense lawyer states his client has been cooperating. The lawyer also adds Karti got permission from the Madras High Court to travel abroad.

On the other hand Karti’s father former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram put up an empathetic defense for his son. The two Chidambarams have been denying these allegations calling it political vendetta.

In the defense presented to the Madras High Court it states P. Chidambaram was the Finance Minister to start the probe against INX Group in 2013. The petition justifies Karti stated he could not have influenced the then Finance Ministry in his favor.
