Seventeen people, including a child and a woman, were killed and six were left injured after an intense fire broke out, on the 12th of February, at a hotel in Karol Bagh, Delhi.

In an attempt to escape the fire, the woman and the child jumped out of the five storey building from a window, which led to their death.

The fire broke out around 4:35 A.M., at the Arpit Palace Hotel on Gurudwara Road, Karol Bagh.

Approximately 26 fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire, after the Fire Department received a call about the breakout of fire. The fire tenders doused the fire by 7:00 A.M.

The officials launched a search operation to look for the people trapped inside the hotel. As of now, 35 people have been evacuated and the critically injured were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

According to Vipin Kenta, a Fire Officer, due to wooden paneling across the corridors of the hotel, people could not use the corridors to escape.

The reason of the fire is yet to be found out and an investigation to ascertain the same is underway.

This is a developing story, stay tuned for further updates.
