Nitin Somalaraju, a Hyderabad based diabetic man, will climb Mount (Mt.) Everest (8,848 metres,) the world’s highest mountain above sea level.

The twenty eight year old Nitin, on the 3rd of April, will begin his adventurous journey to Mt. Everest as a part of the International Mt. Everest Expedition 2019.

Nitin will start his 60 day journey to Mt. Everest with 21 other climbers, selected from across the world for the International Mt. Everest Expedition 2019. If he succeeds in his journey, he will be the first diabetic Indian to scale Mt. Everest.

Nitin is a professional mountaineer and never gave up on climbing due to his health conditions. Previously, he also trekked to the Mera Peak (6,470 m,) Nepal in 2017 and Stok Kangri (6,100 m,) Ladakh in 2018.

Speaking about his health condition, Nitin said, “I am taking all precautions to tackle health complications from diabetes at higher altitude. It’s my aim to spread awareness that even diabetics can lead an active physical life.”

Nitin also underwent a training course at Bhongir Climbing School and completed a refresher course about climbing.

According to sources, Nitin also has a medical certificate which states, “He is physically and mentally fit to climb Mount Everest.”

Nitin will begin his journey from the 3rd of April through the South Col route, which is said to be the toughest route to climb Mt. Everest.
