The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 30th of May, announced, the Party will not participate in any media debates or address media representatives for a month.

The INC released an official announcement for the same stating, “Congress has decided to not send spokespersons on television debates for a month. All media channels/editors are requested to not place Congress representatives on their shows.”

Randeep Singh Surjewala, the Media Chief of the INC, took to Twitter and posted a tweet regarding the same.

The decision was taken after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) held a meeting regarding the decision of Rahul Gandhi, who wants to resign as the INC President.

Rahul Gandhi, after the defeat of the INC in the Lok Sabha elections, offered his resignation from his post. However, the CWC rejected the resignation and tried to convince Rahul to continue as the Party leader.

The INC secured only 52 Lok Sabha seats out of the 542 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha elections were held from the 11th of April and continued till the 19th of May. The results were announced on the 23rd of May.

On the 31st of May, the INC will hold a meeting with like minded opposition parties and decide about the leadership of the INC. The members of the other parties will also try to convince Rahul Gandhi to continue as the leader of the INC.

The INC will conduct a Parliamentary meeting on the 1st of June, following which, the Party will elect their leader.

Stay tuned for further updates.
