India Decides to Fight Fire with Fire: Pakistan opened fire in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, mutilating and killing two jawans and injuring one soldier on Monday morning. This was an unnecessary fight that dug the grave of two innocent soldiers. The Army’s Northern Command was furious and swore to take appropriate action.

India retaliated by opening fire, destroying two Pakistani bunkers, and killing nearly 7 of their soldiers. The two bunkers were in Kirpan and Pimple posts opposite Krishna Ghati or Mendhar in Jammu.

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley issued a statement saying, Two of our soldiers in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch have been killed and their bodies mutilated by our neighbors. This is a reprehensible and inhumane act. Such attacks don’t even take place during war, let alone peace. Bodies of soldiers being mutilated is an extreme form of barbaric act. Government of India strongly condemns this act.”

General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief, made his way to Srinagar hours after the attack from Pakistan to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir that later led to the death of 7 Pakistani soldiers.

But Pakistan has denied any involvement in this attack. “Pakistan Army is a highly professional force and shall never disrespect a soldier even Indian,” Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated indicting India of spreading false propaganda.
