Approximately 18 people were injured in a grenade explosion at a bus stand in Jammu.
The injured were rushed to the Government Medical College for treatment. Out of the 18, 2 are said to be in a critical condition.
The explosion took place, on the 7th of March, around 12:00 P.M., when a grenade, which was placed inside a bus, exploded at the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) Bus Stand. The number of casualties is said to be 0, however, it is not yet clear whether there were people inside the bus.
M.K. Sinha, the Inspector General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, said, “It was a grenade explosion, it has caused injuries to approximately 18 people, all the injured have been shifted to hospital.”
Speaking about the reason behind the attack, the police suspect it was done by a terrorist group to disturb the peace and harmony of the State.
A senior police officer said, “Obviously the intention is always to disturb communal peace and harmony…. We are sure to hunt them down.”
The security forces and the police cordoned off the site and launched a search operation. Sniffer dogs were also brought to scan the site. The security officials are currently investigating the matter.
