The security forces, on the 11th of February, prevented a terror attack on the Indian Army camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the Army Artillery Unit is situated at Mohra in Uri, near the Line of Control (LoC.) A few militants allegedly tried to enter the Indian Army camp, on the 11th of February. The Army guards suspected the movement of people around 3:00 A.M., and fired at them to prevent them from entering the camp.
A spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “During night hours, the guards at Army Artillery Unit at Rajarwani in Uri detected some suspicious movement around the camp and opened fire. The area has been cordoned off and is being searched jointly by the police and Army.”
After the information was received by the security officials, tight security was arranged. Security officials belonging to the Indian Army and the Central Paramilitary were deployed to the area.
The security officials arrested two men and interrogated them for the same.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police said, there may have been casualties during the fight, but as of now, no bodies have been recovered.
The Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation and cordoned off the area.
On the 10th of February, a militant group launched an attack in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. A gunfight ensued between the militants and the security officials. Five terrorists, identified as Waseem Ahmad Rather, Aqib Nazir Mir, Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat, Idrees Ahmad Bhat and Zahid Ahmad Parray, were killed during this gunfight.
The police suspect, terrorist groups Lashkar e Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM,) are behind the attacks.
