Two militants were killed, on the 27th of February, in an encounter between militants and security forces in Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the militants killed were from the Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) terrorist group.
The gunfight broke out around 4:20 A.M., after the militants fired on the security forces as the latter launched a search operation in the Meemedar area of Shopian district.
The security forces received an intelligence input about militants hiding in the area, following which they launched the search operation and cordoned off the area.
According to a security official, arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter spot.
The encounter broke out after the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted airstrikes, on the 26th of February, and destroyed the JeM terrorist camps in Balakot, across the Line of Control (LoC.) Approximately 300 terrorists belonging to the JeM were killed during the airstrikes.
More details are awaited as the encounter is still going on in Shopian district.
