The grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP,) on the 25th of February, announced their decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections in two more states, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Speaking about the seat sharing formula, the BSP will contest a total of 26 Lok Sabha seats, whereas the SP will fight for 3 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh will contest a total of 29 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

In Uttarakhand, the alliance of the BSP and the SP will contest a total of 3 and 1 Lok Sabha seats respectively.

Uttarakhand will contest a total of 5 Lok Sabha seats. During an interview, on the 25th of February, Akhilesh Yadav, the SP President, and Mayawati Das, the BSP President, released a joint statement which read, the SP will contest 1 seat in the Garhwal (Pauri) constituency, whereas the BSP will contest the remaining 4 seats.

In total, the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP will contest the Lok Sabha elections in 4 states, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled between April and May 2019 and the major parties contesting are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)
