The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 22nd of April, announced its list of candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi, the President of the INC, announced 6 candidates for the Lok Sabha seats in the State.
The INC fielded Sheila Dikshit from North East Delhi, Ajay Mekan from New Delhi, J.P. Agarwal from Chandni Chowk and Arvinder Singh Lovely from East Delhi.
The other two remaining candidates representing the INC in Delhi are Rajesh Lilothia from North West Delhi and Mahbal Mishra from West Delhi.
The INC releasing its list of candidates implies there will be no alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the INC against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
The AAP and the INC were conducting several meetings and press conferences to discuss an alliance. However, the alliance did not materialise and both the parties will contest the Delhi Lok Sabha elections individually.
Delhi will contest a total of 7 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 12th of May 2019.
The major parties contesting the Delhi Lok Sabha elections are the INC, the AAP and the BJP.
The results of the Delhi Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
