Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 13th of March, visited Chennai to attend a meeting with the students of the Stella Maris College, Chennai.

Speaking with the students in Chennai, Mr. Gandhi pointed out unemployment as the biggest issue in India, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to eliminate.

Gandhi further criticised Modi stating, “There is currently an ideological battle going in India. It’s sharply divided between two ideologies. One ideology is a unifying ideology which says that all people of the country should live together & shouldn’t be dominated by one idea.”

Rahul Gandhi also asked the students to throw in open questions and said, he has the courage to handle the questions, which PM Modi lacks.

When asked questions related to women empowerment, Rahul said, in 2019, the INC Government will pass a special bill for women.

With the passage of the bill, women will enjoy 33 % job reservation in both the Government and the private sectors.

Rahul Gandhi said, the bill will be passed only if the INC comes to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and forms the Central Government.

The meeting is said to attract the youths of Chennai and gain a majority of female voters in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu will contest a total of 39 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 18th of April. The major parties contesting are the INC and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

The results of the elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
