B.S. Yeddyurappa, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief of Karnataka, on the 27th of February, said, the move of carrying out airstrikes to attack the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) terror camps will help the BJP stand strong in the Lok Sabha elections.
Mr. Yeddyurappa addressed the media in Chitradurga and said, “The atmosphere….day by day the wind is increasingly blowing in favor of the BJP. Yesterday’s (26th of February) action of destroying terror hideouts by entering inside Pakistan has resulted in a pro Modi wave in the country, the results of which can be seen in coming Lok Sabha polls.”
It is being said, the steps were taken in response to the Pulwama terror attack and were more likely to be a winning agenda for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. After facing a horrible defeat in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Meghalaya and Rajasthan, this could be a chance for the BJP to stand strong and gain power again in 2019.
Yeddyurappa, while addressing the media, was confident about the victory of the BJP. He claimed, the enthusiastic youth will help the BJP win approximately 22 Lok Sabha seats, out of the 28 in Karnataka.
As of now, the BJP holds a total of 16 Lok Sabha seats, whereas the alliance of the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Janata Dal [Secular] (JD[S]) holds 10 and 12 Lok Sabha seats respectively.
Mr. Yeddyurappa further praised Modi for his strong actions in response to the Pulwama terror attack. He said, the steps taken by Modi are being appreciated across India, including by the opposition parties.
The IAF airstrikes not only destroyed the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) terrorists residing in Balakot, but also locked 5 more years of the BJP Government in India.
Yeddyurappa said, “He (Narendra Modi) had said he will avenge every drop of blood and he is showing that he is doing as he promised.”
However, the statements and the Karnataka BJP chief and the actions of the BJP drew a lot of criticism from the opposition party of the Lok Sabha, the INC.
The INC stated, the BJP played with the sentiments of the Indians and used the Pulwama terror attack to ensure Modi’s win in the Lok Sabha elections.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC,) took to Twitter and criticised the statements of Yeddyurappa as a ‘shameful act.’
Most disgusting shameful irresponsible statement made by @BSYBJP.
Using the #J&K situation for political benefit. Is winning elections becoming the criteria for BJP & not the security of India.
Is going to war a electoral strategy for the BJP. https://t.co/G2r96RWxlO
