The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) rejected the UN report which alleges human rights violations in Kashmir. The report described India as “fallacious, tendentious and motivated.”

The MEA was extremely unhappy with this report and called it “overtly prejudiced.” The Ministry further stated the report seeks to build a false narrative.

The United Nations released a report alleging human rights violation in both the “Indian administered and Pakistan administered Kashmir.” The UN Human Rights Body Chief asked for an investigation into “all civilian killings since July 2016.”

The MEA stated, “India rejects the report. It is fallacious, tendentious and motivated. We question the intent in bringing out such a report.” The Ministry added the report was a selective compilation of mostly unverified facts.

“The report violates India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Pakistan is in illegal and forcible occupation of a part of the Indian state through aggression,” the MEA stated.

The UN report is an unbiased file on the human lives affected between the two countries. In the report, India and Pakistan are both held at fault for the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.
