MLA Revanth Reddy sent to 14-day judicial custody

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party MLA A. Revanth Reddy was sent to a 14-day judicial custody by a city court on Monday. Mr. Reddy was booked on the charge of trying to bribe a nominated member of the Assembly, Elvis Stephenson, to vote for a TDP-BJP candidate in the Telangana Legislative Council election.

After laying a trap on Sunday night by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mr. Reddy was arrested after a high drama in Secunderabad. He was caught while offering Rs. 50 lakh to Elvis Stephenson. He was produced in the court on Monday and the court has directed the police to allow him to cast vote in the election before shifting him to jail as the elections are being held on Monday for the six seats of the council.

According to ACB officials, the amount Rs 50 lakh was an advance but the deal was Rs 5 crore.The ACB sleuths arrested two others and seized the cash. Two days after the written complaint, ACB had registered the case.
