Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his last speech before the country’s elections. In his speech he laid out the key policies for the fourth presidential term. Putin is likely to win the elections which will be revealed in 17 days.
Putin showcased a new cruise missile that can reach anywhere in the world. According to the President this new missile is invincible. He further showed video presentations to show the missile could not be stopped by the U.S., shield in Asia and Europe. The Russian President also highlighted an unmanned submarine.
Describing the warhead Putin said it was “a low-flying, difficult-to-spot cruise missile with a nuclear payload with a practically unlimited range and an unpredictable flight path, which can bypass lines of interception and is invincible in the face of all existing and future systems of both missile defence and air defence.”
The two hour long speech was televised with a joint sitting of both the houses of Parliament. Putin asked the members of the Houses to suggest names for the two new systems. He stressed this is being done after years of pleading with the U.S., to not break away from anti missile treaties.
