In Srinagar, the family members of 5 policemen were kidnapped by terrorists on Thursday night. The militants raided the houses of a number of policemen in South Kashmir spreading panic.
A total of 9 family members were kidnapped and according to the police this is a pressure tactic by the militants. This comes after security forces raided and arrested relatives of terrorists in the area. A senior police officer assured they were working towards rescuing the family members.
Many locals were protesting on Thursday after the militants’ relatives were arrested. The villagers claim the security forces burnt the houses of the terrorists. This is the first time in 28 years that terrorists have attacked the policemen families.
A policeman was also kidnapped on Thursday from his home in Pulwama district. The officer was released by the terrorists after a few hours of questioning.
