Ms. P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, the Education Minister of Telangana ordered a probe into the incident of food poisoning at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT) in Basara town, Nirmal district.

Notably, the investigation into the food poisoning issue came after over 100 students fell ill after consuming messy food, on the 15th of July, Friday.  The students were served egg-fried rice for lunch at the two hostels.  Furthermore, the students who became ill, complained of vomiting and diarrhea after lunch hours, at the IIIT Basara.

After the incident, the RGUKT administration provided treatment to 60 affected students on the premises. 

Furthermore, many students, who fell unconscious and are said to be unstable were shifted to hospitals in Nizamabad and Navipet, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) took the matter seriously, following which Ms. P. Sabitha Reddy ordered a comprehensive probe in this regard and assured strict action.

In addition, the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) vice chairman Mr. V. Venkataramana visited the hospital and was personally monitoring the medical help of the admitted students.
