Rajesh Agarwal, the Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh, on the 7th of February, presented Uttar Pradesh’s Budget for the fiscal year 2019.
The State allocated approximately Rs. 247 crores for the maintenance of Gaushalas in all the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh and Rs. 200 crores to the Kanha Gaushalas under the Destitute Cattle Shelter Scheme in urban areas.
Yogi Aditya Nath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said, the budget is in line with ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ the campaign agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He further added, the new Budget will benefit the citizens of Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttar Pradesh Government allocated Rs. 2,579 crores to the Old Age and Farmers’ Pension Scheme and Rs. 50 crores for WiFi facilities in college and universities. The budget for the Mid Day Meal Scheme is set at Rs. 2,275 crores, while that for the Saryu Canal National Project is Rs. 1,812.56 crores. The funds assigned for the second phase of the Central Ganga Scheme amount to Rs. 1,727 crores.
Apart from these welfare schemes, the State allotted Rs. 850 crores to villages in order to have concrete road links with the urban areas. ‘Mukhyamantri Kisan Evam Sarvhit Bima Yojna’ was allocated a sum of Rs. 845 crores.
The other departments which enjoyed a hike in the budget are the One District One Product Scheme (Rs. 250 crores,) the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojna (Rs. 100 crores) and the Swacch Bharat Mission (Rs. 6,000 crores.)
The State announced a hike of 12 % in the budget as compared to the previous year’s budget. The Budget for 2019 is Rs. 4,79,000 crores, while the budget for 2018 was Rs. 4,28,384.52 crores.
