The National Cultural Festival Al Janadria in Saudi Arabia will be held with India as the guest of honor. On Wednesday, the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will inaugurate the event.
The festival first started in 1985 under the patronage of the then ruling monarch. This is the biggest cultural festival held in the Gulf and this year King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will be the patron of the festival.
The two week long festival will be filled with intellectual debates, food stalls, music and events to highlight the rich heritage of the desert kingdom. This event is organized by the Saudi National Guard every year. Its main goal is to highlight the country’s Islamic identity and display its heritage to preserve it for the future generation.
Al Janadria is not only about Saudi Arabia’s culture but also to educate its citizens about other countries’ heritage. Every year a country is nominated to be the guest of honor, this year India was chosen. India will have the opportunity to present its culture, scientific and technological developments in the country.
Sushma Swaraj will be leading a delegation at the event along with Minister of State for External Affairs V. K. Singh. Members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry will also be present at the event.
