On Thursday, media reported Kuwait had imposed a travel ban on Pakistan and several other Muslim countries. The Country’s officials denied these rumors after the US President Donald Trump praised the story on social media. The President posted ‘Smart!’ on his official Facebook page on Thursday. He also linked Al Bawaba website of Jordan that published the story about Kuwait mirroring Donald Trump’s administration to temporarily ban travelers from several countries. He also wrote, “Interesting that certain Middle-Eastern countries agree with the ban. They know if certain people are allowed in its death & destruction!”

The story published stated that Gulf State will not be allowing ‘Syrians, Iraqis, Pakistanis, Afghans and Iranians’ into the country while the blanket ban is in place. Kuwait’s foreign ministry denied these claims and said that they have not levied any blanket ban and if ever decided to issue a ban they will issue a formal notice.

A ministry spokesperson said in this regard to KUNA, an official website, “Kuwait categorically denies these claims and affirms that these reported nationalities … have big communities in Kuwait and enjoy full rights.” They also said that they have regular visitors from the said countries. The news of a ban created confusion in the travelers for which the Country immediately responded.

After Trump issued a ban on seven Muslim countries, there were nationwide protests at airports and even on the streets. Dubbed as a ‘Muslim Ban’ the decision was condemned by several countries, but Trump said on his Twitter handle that the decision received support in the region.
