The United States has designated Siddhartha Dhar an Islamic State militant as a global terrorist. Dhar is Indian origin from Britain who was designated as a global terrorist along with Abdelatif Gaini.
A State Department official said, “The State Department has designated two ISIS members, Siddhartha Dhar and Abdelatif Gaini, as Specially Designated Global Terrorists under Section 1(b) of Executive Order which also imposes sanctions on foreign persons determined to have committed, or pose a significant risk of committing, acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the U.S.”
A British Hindu converted to Islam, Dhar now goes by the name Abu Rumaysah. In 2014, Dhar skipped bail in the U.K. and traveled to Syria with his wife and children.
In May 2016, The Independent released a quote from an ISIS slave Nihad Barakat. The woman claimed she was kidnapped and trafficked by Dhar. This militant was based and Mosul and was then made a senior commander for the terror outfit. Dhar has been now dubbed as the New Jihadi John
