This morning, North Korea decided to provoke Japan after launching a ballistic missile that flew over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. This will cause continued strained relations between Pyongyang and the rest of the world.
Japan’s Prime Minister was anything but pleased and agitated by North Korea’s actions. PM Shinzo Abe addressed the issue and said, “Launching a missile and flying it over our country was a reckless act, and it represents a serious threat without precedent to Japan.”
Abe spoke to the media after conducting an emergency national security council meeting.
Japan immediately took action and sent out emergency alerts via cell phones and loud speakers, warning the people of the potential fight and asking them to take cover.
The missile launched by North Korea was a Hwasong-12 which is an intermediate range ballistic missile that is capable of flying 3,000 miles. The constant threat from North Korea has been to attack United States territory Guam which can easily be attacked with this missile. But instead, the missile was shot towards East over Hakkaido instead of moving South towards Guam.
