Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had a disgraceful experience at London’s Heathrow Airport. Fourteen members of the crew were detained and searched thoroughly for two hours after landing at the airport. The crew was then let off to finish their duties.
A PIA spokesperson Mashhad Tajwar was quoted by the international press saying that after Flight PK-785 landed the crew and the aircraft was thoroughly searched by the authorities. These searches were done after the passengers disembarked from the plane.
The reason for this detaining is not yet known. Tajwar said that the authorities did not find anything on the plane. He also said that PIA plans to take this case with the British aviation authorities.
However, Pakistani media reported the crew was detained after the authorities received ‘alleged security threats via confidential information.’ It also said that the passports of the crew were withheld by the authorities of Heathrow Airport.
