Two armed men took several people hostage in a church in France’s northern Normandy region. In the attack, a priest has been killed, according to the police.
As per reports, the armed men entered the Church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray during mass and took the priest, two nuns and many churchgoers hostage. Reports added that after the police arrived, several shots had been heard. The area has been cordoned off and the hostage-takers were killed.
President Francois Hollande and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve are on their way to the town to be briefed by police. More details are still awaited.
