Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar announced that the state will roll out new ATM-sized ration cards starting in May. These upgraded ration cards will feature a QR code and enhanced security features. Speaking to the media at the Secretariat, the minister stated that provisions will be made for adding and removing family members, along with options for SIT cards. He emphasized that once e-KYC is completed, the government will have a clear count of beneficiaries eligible for the new cards. Additionally, he announced that Deepam-2’s second-phase cylinder booking has commenced from Tuesday, benefiting lakhs of families across the state.

In a significant move to streamline agricultural trade, farmers can now sell their grain through WhatsApp. The minister highlighted that 16,000 farmers have already availed of this facility. He reassured that farmers have the freedom to sell their produce at mills of their choice. To prevent logistical issues, the government is ensuring adequate gunny bags for grain procurement. These reforms aim to enhance transparency and efficiency in both the ration distribution system and agriculture procurement process.
