HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Revant Reddy has mandated the strengthening of Hyderabad’s disaster management system, focusing on the area within the Outer Ring Road (ORR). During a review meeting at the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate on Saturday, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttamkumareddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Duddilla Sridharbabu, and Ponnam Prabhakar, Reddy emphasized the need for robust emergency response measures.
Visiting the Police Command Control Centre, Reddy instructed that all CCTV cameras on the ORR be linked to the command center to improve monitoring and coordination. With the onset of the rainy season, he highlighted the importance of preventing traffic jams and managing flood risks in Greater Hyderabad. Authorities were directed to use FM radio for issuing traffic alerts and to consider appointing additional home guards as necessary.
Police officials reported that 141 high-risk areas for flooding have already been identified within the GHMC area.
Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, DGP Ravigupta, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Kottakota Srinivasa Reddy, and Civil Supplies Department Commissioner DS Chauhan were also present at the review meeting, ensuring a comprehensive approach to disaster management and public safety.
