Gottimukkala Padma Rao, a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) member, quit the TRS as he was disappointed with the party, on Sunday.
Padma Rao, incharge of the Kukatpally constituency in Hyderabad, alleged the TRS party of mistreating the party leaders with regard to seat selection for the upcoming Telangana elections.
The TRS nominated Madhavaram Krishnarao for the Kukatpally constituency, denying the ticket to Padma Rao. This disappointed Mr. Rao and he took the decision to resign from the TRS. Rao handed his resignation letter to K. Chandrashekar Rao, the TRS chief.
In his resignation letter, Mr. Rao wrote, “I had thought of the TRS party as my home and KCR akin to a father and worked hard for so many years for the cause of the party. Despite being treated with injustice I bore the pain with patience, in the hope that there would be a change in the thinking of the leadership. But there has been no change and the party is slowly drifting from its core principles and in this context I am resigning from my role as the in-charge of the Kukkatpally (sic) constituency and the party itself.”
Padma Rao is not the first one to quit the TRS ahead of the upcoming elections. Recently, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy also quit the TRS.
Mr. Rao was an integral part of the TRS and losing him as a member when the elections are only a few days ahead could prove to be a major setback for the party.
The Telangana Assembly will poll for 119 Assembly seats on the 7th of December. The leaders contesting the Telangana Assembly elections are the TRS, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the grand alliance of the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Telangana Jana Samithi (TRS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI.)
The results of the Telangana elections will be announced on the 11th of December.
