Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has initiated efforts to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, engaging in a two-hour-long discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, White House sources revealed.

Trump, who has consistently promised to broker peace in Ukraine if re-elected, confirmed that the conversation centered around territorial issues, power plants, and the division of assets. His call to Putin marks a significant move toward diplomatic negotiations.

As part of these efforts, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire proposed by Trump. Meanwhile, Putin has acknowledged the need for further discussions, indicating that Moscow seeks additional clarity before making further commitments.

Trump’s push for a resolution comes amid increasing global pressure for a diplomatic end to the conflict, which has significantly impacted international stability and energy markets. Further negotiations between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine are expected in the coming weeks.
