Today the Telecom operator Reliance Jio is hosting the India Digital Open Summit (IDOS) 2018. The IDOS event will focus on opportunities to build digital ecosystems. Reliance Jio is hosting the IDOS in partnership with Linux Foundation and Cisco. Around 400 top executives from more than 50 companies are attending IDOS. More than 14 countries are representing IDOS. More than 20 eminent global leaders will be interacting with the crowd today. IDOS is a one day event and is being held at the Reliance Corporate Park in Navi Mumbai.
Reliance Jio released a statement saying, “The 19 January 2018 event marks the inaugural India Digital Open Summit, a meeting of the top technologists, academia, startups, and industry leaders focused on how open source networking systems and platforms would transform and foster innovation and leadership across the entire digital ecosystem.” The statement further added, “Open source is being embraced by leading organisations globally, not only due to its cost advantage but to leverage the development advantages open source communities offer.”
The statement said, “Open source fuels enterprising organisations, because unlike proprietary systems, it enables greater innovation and differentiation, helping companies customise and manage platforms with more flexibility, with the ability to rapidly develop and bring new services to the market with scalability and security.”
The event will focus on six themes which are Indian Telco Ecosystem and Open Source Platforms – ensuring India’s Leadership, Open Source Wi-Fi: Enabling Inclusive Digital India, Role of Open Source and Big Data on Policy, Technology and Security for a Digital India, Learnings on Customer Experience Transformation and Impact of Open Source Platforms, Impact of Open Cellular and Open RAN Offerings on the Telecom Ecosystem and Customer Experience Transformation: Open Source AI-ML as a Platform.
The IDOS event began at 8:30 A.M. and will end at 7 P.M. The Summit started with a special address by the Chairman of Telecom Commission and Secretary (Telecom Dept of Telecommunications, Ms. Aruna Sundararajan at 10 A.M. Soon after the special note a few of the keynote speakers including the Chairman of Infosys and Ex Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Nandan Nilekani and Vice President of the LINUX Foundation Phil Robb gave their speech.
After the break from 11:45 A.M. a few keynote speakers including the Vice President of Engineering and Consumer Experience in Flipkart Amar Nagaram, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Paytm Sunil Goyal and the Dean and the Institute Chairman of IIT Bombay Abhay Karandikar gave their speech.
At 1 P.M. the Chief of Strategy of Reliance Jio Akash Ambani gave the special address. Soon after the lunch, at 2:15 P.M. few of the keynote speakers like the Corporate Vice President of Intel Rory McInerney, Vice President of the Global Product Management in Google Anjali Joshi, Senior Vice President and Head of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) in Samsung Sohyoung Chong and the President and Chief Executive of Network and Communications in TechMahindra Manish Vyas will give their speech.
The interactive session will end with the speech from speakers like the Principle Architect of Cisco Giles Heron and President of Corporate Affairs in TechMahindra Sujit Baksi.
IDOS is to promote open source networking systems and platforms that will disrupt how enterprise and service providers will deliver services in the future. It is said this Summit will set the roadmap for defining the future of an open source and open platform for digital India, fostering and supporting continuous innovation, security, and entrepreneurialism enabling creation of India’s new generation Digital Platforms.
