Amaravati: YCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently sparked controversy by advocating for ballot-based elections in India, citing the use of ballots in democratic countries worldwide. Posting on X (Twitter), Jagan emphasized the need to maintain the spirit of democracy by moving away from EVMs.
This statement drew a sharp response from TDP leaders. Former minister and TDP MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy accused Jagan of hypocrisy, reminding him of his acceptance of EVMs during his 2019 election victory. Somireddy questioned Jagan’s sudden mistrust in the technology that once facilitated his win.
Echoing similar sentiments, TDP leader Buddha Venkanna challenged Jagan to resign and contest a by-election in Pulivendulu using ballots. Venkanna sarcastically questioned whether Jagan would still doubt EVMs if he won a majority again. The debate highlights the ongoing political tensions and differing perspectives on election integrity in Andhra Pradesh.
